What inspired the inception of OYOY as a brand?

Rooted in the Danish traditions of simplicity and functionality— OYOY's DNA is a playful yet straight forward aesthetic approach to design. OYOY is for modern families in search of reconnecting to childhood memories while creating new ones. We strive to be respectful of surrounding nature, people, and process while remaining dedicated to manufacturing quality products – always with a creative and playful approach in mind.
What’s been the most exciting milestones since OYOY launched?
Lotte—CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND OWNER:
There have been many highlights over the past ten years—it was overwhelming to launch the first collection and see the interest. After several few years, we launched the mini collection, which worked seamlessly with our playful design aesthetic. We have so much fun developing and personalizing our characters in the mini universe.
We have just launched our collection for dogs! It has long been a dream to make something for our beloved four-legged friends. Right now we are looking forward to moving in and creating our playful universe in our new headquarters out in the countryside on the slope up to a forest.
What advice would you give to someone starting a new business or brand?
Lotte—CREATIVE DIRECTOR + OWNER:
Starting a business must be a dream and you must believe in it and work hard for it. For me, with three children and a husband, it has been important that my family was willing to help and support me, otherwise it would have been difficult. If you don't understand finance and accounting yourself, you need someone to do it, so you can use all your energy to develop the company.
You must be ready to take on many different tasks in addition to what you're really passionate about. In the beginning, there is no one else to do it all except yourself. And most importantly, invest and believe in what you are doing….I can only say if you dream of starting a business—do it!

OYOY wants to be the strongest Danish design brand offering home accessories for children, adults, and the homes they live in.
We have more than 2500 customers around the world!
What influences inspire the design process?
With inspiration from traditional Danish design, the ideas for OYOY products are drawn from the designer’s own childhood memories. Inspired by their majestic surroundings + everyday life + nostalgia for classic charm— unique products are crafted to aesthetically align where form meets function.
How would you describe OYOY’s signature style?
OYOY’s designs are playful, classic, functional, and long lasting with unique details and alluring color combinations. At OYOY we work with honest, natural materials which gives our products their traditional modern DNA.
What kind of products do you sell?
OYOY Living Design is represented and sold globally – from the green hills of New Zealand, to the metropolises of Europe and sandy beaches of California. We are very proud that we sell items to fit in any home – near or far.
What’s your favorite OYOY product?
My favorite product is—all the articles inside the Toppu Line! This line of products symbolizes OYOY's design sensibility in a variety of colors and styles.
Any fashion/ interior trend predictions for 2023?
In the wake of a pandemic comes the need– or let’s say trend —for sustainable and durable solutions we can count on, both when it comes to the products we place in our homes and on our bodies. Therefore, we aim to deliver high-quality products that can live in our homes and hearts for generations and create memories.
This is also the basis for our collection— which is rarely defined by finite trends— but more from a desire to create products that stand the test of time.
I predict that consumers in a much more conscious way will buy products to live in their home long term and rely less on fast trends— prioritizing quality over quantity.
